UPVC is hygroscopic, absorbing and retaining moisture and dust, while aluminium remains unaffected. Aluminium frames offer slimmer frame profiles resulting in an increased glass aperture over other framing systems. The addition of modern glazing systems, such as Low Emissivity Glass (which conforms to the new Part L of the Building Regulations, Conservation of Fuel and Power) provide increased heating efficiency, reducing heating bills and offer additional environmental benefits.
