There’s plenty of egg-citing things to do in Hampshire if you’re looking for ways to entertain the family during the Easter holidays. Spend the day with some feathered friends
There’s plenty of Easter egg hunts going on throughout the holidays in Hampshire, and the one at Birdworld promises to be a great one. Head down to Birdworld’s Easter Holiday Eggstravaganza to celebrate their 50th anniversary, where Percy the Penguin has hidden 50 eggs for your little ones to discover.
The 26-acre park is a great space for your family to run around in hunt of the chocolate treats. As well as this, children can be entered into a draw with prizes ranging from Penguin Feeding to cuddly toys. Choo choo choose a big day out with Thomas!
If your little one is a big lover of everything Thomas the Tank Engine, then the Day Out With Thomas event taking place on the Watercress Line from the 30th or March to April 8th is a must. Not only will your child get to meet Thomas himself, but they’ll also be able to shake hands with the Fat Controller!
As well as this you’ll get a days’ worth of travel on a traditional steam train with ‘Imagination Stations’ to entertain all the family. Other forms of entertainment will also be available throughout the day, including rides and an entertainer.

An egg hunt with a twist
If you fancy a traditional egg hunt but wish you could do it a little differently this year, then why not try a hunt in a canoe? New Forest Activities have organised an Easter egg hunt where you’ll begin the search by paddling along the Beaulieu River in Canadian style canoes.
You’ll be able to make the most out of the beautiful scenery before being let loose on their egg hunt with a twist. What’s more is you’ll be able to get back in the canoes after the hunt, meaning you have a full day of activity spread out in front of you. For further details see here.

Let the kids have the fun
Though the school holidays are a great time to spend time with all the family, sometimes it’s just not possible to get the time off work. With that in mind, the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium are running a science-themed holiday club for children aged 5-9.
The course runs twice for the first two weeks of April with parents able to choose from a weekly or daily class. Children can also attend a breakfast club and in the day, will enjoy a variety of activities that focus on not only science but also technology, engineering and mathematics. Immerse yourself in the jungle
If you’ve already stuffed yourself silly with chocolate eggs and hot cross buns and fancy an opportunity to put your feet up, then head to the Theatre Royal. Here the Immersion Theatre will be bringing some wild fun to Winchester in the form of their adaptation of The Jungle Book. Join Mowgli, Baloo and Bagheera as they adventure through the jungle, encountering exotic animals everywhere they turn.
There’s plenty of opportunities for your children to interact with the show. As well as this, the show features music that you’ll be singing along to long after the curtains are down.
