What To Do In Hampshire This February Half-Term
Feb 7, 2018
It’s cold, wet and rainy in February and that doesn’t spell good news for the upcoming February half-term. Your children are bound to get itchy feet if they’re forced to stay indoors because of poor weather. With that in mind we’ve hunted down what to do in Hampshire this February half-term, so you can enjoy some stress-free time with the whole family.
Step into the past at Beaulieu
If your kids love discovering things about the past, then the National Motor Museum is a great day out. Not only can the little ones find out about motoring history, but they can dress up and pose in the iconic Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy for some great family pics. You can also discover how the aristocrats that owned these cars used to live, or head ‘down stairs’ to see how the staff used to go about their daily lives.
A day at Beaulieu provides you with plenty to see but there’s also plenty to do as well. Enjoy creating your own top hat to take home, find out what it was like to be a chauffeur or a medieval builder and try making some traditional dishes in the kitchen.
Location: Beaulieu, National Motor Museum, New Forest, Hampshire, SO42 7ZN
Take a trip to the land of Oz
It’s time to get in out of the cold and onto the yellow brick road with Dorothy and her friends in The Wizard of Oz. Suitable for ages 5 and up this classic adventure is brought to life by Oddsocks Productions.
Live at the Theatre Royal Winchester this family-friendly action-packed romp is sure to get your little one’s attention!

Unleash your inner scientist
Head to the Winchester Science Centre this February half-term where they’ve teamed up with the Royal Society of Chemistry and BOC to deliver a special show titled the ‘Secret World of Gases’. There’ll be live demonstrations featuring liquid nitrogen, solid carbon dioxide and hydrogen which are bound to make your day go off with a bang!
As well as this there is a daily programme of live shows in the Planetarium, as well as 360-degree films that use the dome of the planetarium as a screen. Tickets cost £12 for adults and £8.40 for children, though you can get 10% off if you book online. More information can be found here.
Location: Winchester Science Centre, Telegraph Way, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 1HZ
Many people think of Valentine’s day when they think of February but for others it’s the month of the glorious pancake. If you fancy getting to teach your children how to make this dish themselves, then consider heading to Lainston House Hotel’s Season Cookery School. There they’ll be running their Crepe Craziness course to teach both parents and children how to make both savoury and sweet pancakes.

You’ll be given a full two-hour guided tour on the river, enjoying the beautiful wintery sights on offer. As well as this you will be able to choose between a two to a three-seater canoe meaning you can adapt the experience to suit the size of your family.
