Bringing the outdoors into your home

Solid roof garden rooms are a fantastic addition to a home because they combine the light, airy feel of a traditional conservatory with the strength and energy efficiency of a solid, tiled roof structure. Created to effortlessly match the characteristics of your home, our stylish range of garden room designs can also be used to provide a more contemporary contrast. Incredibly versatile, here at Wessex Window Systems we can help you with your garden room ideas. From a stand-alone structure to a garden room extension, the new living space a solid-roof garden room provides can be used in many different ways.

A roof like no other

To ensure local homeowners get the very best garden room we offer UltraRoof; the latest in tiled, energy-efficient solid roofs. So good are these roofs in terms of cost, design, insulation and durability, that many are predicting they will revolutionise the market. Consisting of minimal separate parts, no expensive steelwork and no structural tie bars, these roofs can be easily created to fit any shape or design. One very practical benefit of all this is that UltraRoof can be installed much quicker and simpler than any other type of roof system, thereby also helping to reduce price. UltraRoof is also unique in terms of styling as it can incorporate large, made-to-measure glass panels into the roof design which provide added natural sunlight and interesting sky views.

Lots of solid roof options for your home…

Replacement

Replacement solid roofs have lots of versatility and can be tailored and fitted almost all conservatory or orangery, including: Edwardian, Victorian, Lean-To and Gable conservatories. Similarly, bespoke solid roofs can be created for existing conservatories that are a combination of these styles, such as a P-shaped model, meaning that the majority of existing extensions with a glazed roof could be enhanced with a solid Warm Roof.

Conservatories

Wessex Windows Warm Roofs are not just for replacement projects. Many new build conservatories are now being specified with a Warm Roof, as opposed to a polycarbonate or glass roof. The quick and easy installation of a Warm Roof alongside the glazed facets of a conservatory means that a solid roof conservatory can be built quicker than a typical home extension with full height brick walls. The Warm Roof does reduce natural light compared to other options, but this can be counteracted by including  pivot roof windows and mounted spotlights.

Orangeries

Whether it is replacement roof or a new build various configuration options meaning that a Warm Roofs are a great option for your orangery. The shape and outline of the orangery won’t change, but crucially, you’ll get the benefit of the internal ambience of a solid roof which can house mounted spotlights and centre pivot roof windows to counteract the natural light which might be lost form a solid roof.

Extensions

Warms Roofs may be designed predominantly with conservatories and orangeries in mind,  butthere is absolutely no reason why it couldn’t be used as a more cost-effective and less time consuming alternative to a typical solid roof for the construction of a home extension. There are 2 two main roof coverings available with a warm roof system – lightweight tile or slate, both available in a variety of colours.

Porches

The construction of an entrance porch can be made even quicker and more affordable with the inclusion of a Warm Roof which can be tailored to both small and large installations. Depending on the size of the porch, its roof could be installed with minimal fuss in a matter of hours so your home could be benefiting from an entrance porch much sooner than you may think.

Your home improvements could really benefit from a Warm Roof.

Insulation

A solid Warm roof looks great, but its more than just about appearance, it’s about how usable and enjoyable your home is for you and your family, all year round. Glass or PVC roofs can lose a lot of heat, particularity in the winter periods. The materials complied to make the Warm Roof, including rigid insulation board and insulated plywood, are thermally efficient and prevent heat loss, keeping the room at a more comfortable temperature all year round and increasing its usability.

Solid Look & Feel

Polycarbonate or glass roofs cannot match the internal ambience of a solid roof. Natural light may be sacrificed to some extent, but this is  in exchange of a cosier and more intimate setting which still benefits from the natural light provide by glazed facets, windows and doors and roof windows. The lightweight roof coverings emulate the appearance and colour of traditional roofing tiles or slate so that you can choose a finish that is in-sync with the rest of the property.

Simple Fit

The way the Warm Roof is designed and manufactured minimises the time and costs involved in its installation,  allowing you to enjoy your new and improved indoor space much sooner than you may think…and at a lower cost too!

Choose from plasterboard to timber internal finishes…

Typical choice of the internal finish for a Warm Roof is painted plasterboard which is modern. unfussy and clean. There is however a 2nd option for those wanting a more unique environment, and that is a timber clad ceiling which is slightly darker in colour but warmer in feel as a result, complementing integrated roof windows. Timber clad ceilings offer a different look and feel, verging towards a slightly more ‘cabin-style’ internal feel.

Warm Roofs lend themselves to centre pivoted roof windows….

If the loss of natural light from installing a solid roof is a concern to you, then the integration of one, or even several, roof windows is something that should be strongly considered in the design stage of your project. Likewise, a roof window will afford you with views of the skies above which can be equally impressive at both day and night. Last, but certainly not least, you’ll also gain overhead ventilation from a roof window which is particularly pleasant in the summer time when you wish to escape indoors away from the glaring sun, but do not want to completely shut out the air or sound of the outdoors.

Quality tiling solutions…

Both are types of tiling options are lightweight, making them ideal for use on conservatories in particular – and completely weather proof. The 2 options are  lightweight tile which is available in five colour options, and the second is lightweight slate which emulates, to fantastic effect, the look of natural slate

Lightweight Tile

Lightweight tiles are lighter than traditional roofing materials meaning they are quicker to fit. They are also extremely low maintenance, so this option really is ideal for conservatories, orangeries, porches and extensions alike. The colour range includes ebony, red, umber, green and charcoal and will allow you to create the external look that you desire from your new or refurbished roof.

Lightweight Slate

Lightweight slate is modern equivalent to traditional slate roofing which has timeless appeal. Unlike traditional slate, lightweight slate does not crack or de-laminate. This roof covering is available in a colour palette that includes stone black, pewter grey, plum, brick red, and chestnut brown.

Colours

Available in five colour options (shades of red, grey and brown), the lightweight tiles are designed to match closely with your existing house roof. With exceptional durability, our lightweight tile offers superior performance and all the advantages of stone-coated steel. The lightweight slate has options in grey, black and red, again designed to complement the original building.
